Video pitch to request being a guest

This is an actual email I received from Samantha Rodgers to be on the Boss Mom podcast and she agreed to let me use it in their course to show you a possible way to do a video that worked to get her on my show. I did not know her at all before I saw this video, but not only did it work, but I am now using her Meal Prep services and she is part of the Boss Mom Academy.

Here is what I like about the email:
1. It’s simple and clean and she said that she has found value in the community without giving me all the credit…this helps me know that she has something to share that I didn’t teach.

2. She doesn’t actually pitch to be on the podcast. This can be good or bad. If you are a part of their community then perhaps you want to use this tactic, but if you just want to be on their podcast, then I would mention that is your intention

3. Her video is conversational, she gives a little back story, she mentions what she does, but also what she is passionate about, and she mentions a few topics that are super interesting that I can easily see would make good episodes

4. She compliments me and the community without losing our common ground (ie. not an I love you, but am ‘I could have a virtual glass of wine with’ talk.)

Things you might do differently:

1. If you are simply pitching a podcast then I would recommend telling them how you can serve their community in a sentence and then tell them the video helps to show them a little more of you to see if it’s a good fit.

First, thank you for taking a few minutes to read this. I have really found a lot of value in your FB Group and Podcast as I kick my business into turbo drive.

One of the pain points I’ve been feeling is pushing myself to get past my doubts and reach out to podcasters and influencers I admire to connect in some way. This is me getting past that and taking the next steps.

I’ve created a short (3 min) video intro of myself and would love to connect in some way and see if I might be a good fit for you as a podcast guest.

Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to continuing to be a part of the Boss-Mom Community.
